Barracuda Fun Run

The Barracuda Fun Run is Thornebrooke PTO's biggest fundraiser of the year, held each fall. Every donation helps fund PTO programs and major school improvements like the Inclusive Playground, Media Center refresh, Music Room equipment, and other projects that benefit all students.

Pep Rally

The fun begins with an energetic Pep Rally to get everyone excited! Families can register their student through MyBooster.com to collect donations, track fundraising progress, and cheer them on throughout the event.

Check out these images from the 2026 Pep Rally featuring Buon Appetito Adkins and Monsieur Cornichon!  Students cheered along as teachers vs. teachers (or administrators vs. administrators) faced off in a surprise Family-Feud style event hosted by two amazing PTO parent volunteers!  Who knew that Thornebrooke kids' 7th favorite pasta dish is carbonara?!

Prizes

What's a Fun Run without prizes?

Students can earn individual prizes for fundraising, classes compete for exciting rewards, and the top fundraisers receive special recognition. There are nightly class prizes, school-wide fundraising challenges, and even bonus goals—like collecting donations from all 50 states!  If the school reaches its fundraising goal, our Principal and Vice Principal take on hilarious challenges. Past favorites have included a sing-off, making the Principal and Assistant Principal a human hot dog, and the unforgettable "Eat It or Wear It" challenge.

Many prize events, including ice cream days and bounce house recesses, rely on wonderful volunteers. We'd love your help!  Sign up to volunteer!

2026 Prizes

For 2026, if we reach our goal of $48,000, Dr. Gaspar and Ms. Nelson will participate in a school-wide Messy Mile event with lots of secret challenges and obstacles where they are guaranteed to get MESSY! And some of our top classes will get to participate in the Messy Mile and be part of the mess-making obstacles!

If we get pledges from all 50 States, Dr. Gaspar and Ms. Nelson will get their first turn at being Silly Stringed on the news by several lucky students!

Along with the prizes provided by Booster for individual students, we have some amazing PTO Prizes!

The Top 10 Student earners will receive a Sundae Party!

The Top 5 classes with the most funds earned will win a Bounce House Recess!

Each class earns rewards based on their average pledge-per-lap for the class, regardless of each student's individual contribution:

All registered students receive a free prize from Booster, even if they don't get any donations, so make sure to register on MyBooster.com!

Make sure you keep up with Socials to hear about our nightly challenges for top classes, such as a bingo party, a music recess party, and more, and don't forget the top classes also get to enjoy the Traveling Trophy and all the bragging rights that entails!

Barracuda Fun Run

Event day is full of excitement! Students tackle an obstacle course while teachers and volunteers cheer them on, music keeps the energy high, and everyone celebrates with a popsicle at the finish line. Best of all, every student proudly wears their PTO-provided Fun Run T-shirt to show their Thornebrooke spirit!

Make sure you send your child into school on Fun Run day wearing comfortable clothes, socks and sneakers, and pack a water bottle and, if needed, a hat for outside.  Don't worry about their shirt - the PTO supplies a shirt for every student and they will receive them the day of the event.

Please note that, due to OCPS policy, spectators are not permitted at the Barracuda Fun Run. Attendance is limited to Homeroom Parents, PTO Fun Run Committee members, and selected volunteers.

Interested in being on the PTO Fun Run Committee? We'd love to have you!
